Portraits and self-portraits - start looking

Professional Portrait
Self-portrait

On the self portrait its more about trying to get one person and the point of what they are thinking without being to much lights camera action and whats in there head. The professional portrait is all about trying to be glamorous what most people want to see. like this picture defines everything it has like the lighting how it has all the compositions that make up this picture. and by making it in color it best fits in, self portrait its both of the photos are unique and are able to portray their own capability.

Ethics in fashion photography

1.)
  • Freckles are covered up
  • Lips are touched up
  • Hair is teased and styled
  • Make Up is used excessively
  • Computer editing makes a completley different person
  • Head is lifted
  • Eye Brows are lifted
  • Neck is thinned
  • Ears are teased
  • skin tone is different

2.) I do not think it is acceptable to change their appearance, because it's not real, and they are lying to people saying that this makeup makes you look like this, and they put a lot of makeup people do not need makeup to make them look pretty.

3.) Changing their face more would be wrong, but this is already wrong to do, because it isn't how they really look.

4.) I think putting on a little makeup is okay, but i still don't think they should wear makeup because are pretty the way they look.Changing their face is wrong because you are making someone look like something they wouldn't look like, and it is fake.

5.) Fashion photography is really changing things, almost to where it is fake, and it doesn't look anything like the person when they change you with the computer.
Photojournalism is taking pictures and not changing anything, except maybe the effects, you are just trying to take a good picture and not really change anything in the picture
.
6.) Fashion photography makes people in the reality want the things that they are advertising, like the makeup. photojournalism makes people in the reality think about things in the world, like how the people took those pictures, and maybe the people are taking pictures to change the world,by telling them what the pictures are about, and whats wrong with them.

Negatives Evaluation

1. i think all of my photos turned out pretty well overall in the pictures that i took of the school and of people in the classes. 2. i think like 2 or three of the photos did not turn out well because of the lighting that i use in the situation. 3. i think the hall moniter photo will turn out well because it is like super dark. 4. i think that the phots will be balanced and will all have their own way of life and exposure. 5.the rule of thirds willl prolly be a good one.

Photo Manipulation and ethics

A. Summarize the main points of the story in 1-4 sentences.
Photo manipulation is taken very serious. Several people have been let go and fired due to this. When a photo is manipulated then published, the viewer sees something that isn't really there or true.
B. Explain why you think this type of photo editing is unethical or acceptable.
I think that photo editing is inacceptible in any instances. It is unethical when you are doing it to a photo that is going to be taken very serious by the viewers. Also I do believe if a photo is manipulated there should be a caption of some sort for identifying the change.

A. Post the manipulation that you think was the most unethical, and explain why you think it was unethical.
I believe this photograph is the most unethical because the the university of wisconsin officials edited the photo for the wrong reasons. They wanted to prove that their school was diverse so they added an african american student to the photo. They are not showing the true nature of the school If the student was to have seen the photograph of himself he would probably be shocked at the fact that he wasn't even next to these people at that time. lol!

B. Post the manipulation that you have to consider the least unethical, and explain why you think it is not as bad as others.
I believe this photograph is the the worst unethical due to the fact that the only thing changed was how dark the photo was. The change doesn't really effect what is really going on and the photograph still portrays the same feeling.

Making a Black and White print

1.)List the materials (equipment) necessary to make a black and white print
Timer
Drying Cabinets
Tongs or Spatula
Enlargers
Focusing Aids
Safe lights
2.) List the chemicals we might be using to make a print Developer
Stop bath
Fixer&bleach fixer
Stabilizers
Toners
3.) Summarize in one or two paragraphs the process from start to finish
First you get your roll of film and take it to the darkroom. Then you get goggles on before you go near the chemicals. After you put your goggles on wait for the teacher's instructions and see what your supposed to do next. You have 4 different chemicals to go through. After you go through your procedures you are done and you just wait until you finish your whole print.
4.) Post a photo of the equipment necessary to make a black and white print

Drug Cartels in Mexico

The situation in Juarez and other parts in Mexico is terrifying and very sad to here about. When I was youngerster I would go to Juarez with my family and it wasn't nice, and was a very dangerous place to be in. The cartels have officially taken over Mexico. All the people are scared of them so nobody goes against them. Mexico is theirs. It says, "And other politicians, says Antebi, received gruesome threats. "The prime candidate for mayor of Juarez," he says, "had a severed head left on the front door of his house."" This shows that the cartels are not afraid of anyone.

I really liked this picture because it portrays what has happened. It is obvious that the crime rate has increased, The cartel are across the window and they seem to be protecting something. The photographer uses framing in this photo. He has the subject centered and framed by the catels. This is my favorite photograph because it leaves room for imagination but also gives much of a story.

Contests Preview, Show and Tell

This picture is  powerful because its shows alot of details and imagination in this photo is out of this world showing the he does not care about his birth day like he knows he will be dieing soon.
It is also like he has no emotion of whats going on on his birthday and his birthday cake is like the fire in space like a star has exploded all those colors makes this photo come alive.

Post Shoot Reflection

1.) The Cahllenges that i faced when i was trying to get up close and take them pictures was getting the people to stay in character and asking the teacher to let me in classroom. i dealt with the problems with poise and i was able to get my situatation straight.

2.) i really did not have any techmical difficulties other than the light and how i was unable to get good lighting in many classrooms. but i was able to get the teachers to turn the lights on. and get a good lighting position goin.

3.) i tried to use use the rule of thirds because i put a person kind of in a corner so it would look nice,
4.)next time i shoot i will have more experiance and will get even better pictures and to do that i will make sure that everyone is in charachter.

What the pros are doing - Repetition

"A pattern of lights forms a giant 275-foot jack-o-lantern on the side of WaMu Center in downtown Seattle."
There are alot of lights and squares that are repeating. A lot of lights made a design outside the building, the picture looks like a jackolatern, the lights that are off of lead a straight path up and down.

"Pakistani men pray next to a bullet-ridden vehicle parked in the Lal Masjid, or Red mosque." the people look like they are bowing down keep repeating the same thing in a line that looks like its never gonna end, the people are wearing different colored shirts to keep u awake.

"Inmates of the Maricopa County Sheriff's office walk in line". The prisoners are walking in the same line wearing the same clothes so its repeating the same thing what all prisoners do in prison. it is like a chain gang kind of thing and its trippin me out.
