"Great black and white photographers, PART 2."


Roy DeCarava
December 9, 1919 – October 27, 2009
Decarava was raised in harlem and was in the harlem rennaissance and it was able to help him and many other inspiring artist at the time to come up big and was able to give them the inspiration that he needed to become a photographer.DeCarava was known as the first African American photographer to win a guggenheim fellowship and was awarded a National medal of Arts in 2006. Decarava attended the harlem art school for some time and he was able to open up his own art gallery. Decarava died in 2009 but his carreer was most likeley over in 2006 when he won the medal.
